Reflections on the II Women and Technology Congress: Innovation in Healthcare and the Future of Artificial Intelligence
Last Friday, February 14th, Newmanbrain had the privilege of participating in the II Women and Technology Congress in Alicante, organized by Aepa (Association of Women Entrepreneurs, Professionals, and Executives of Alicante). The event brought together innovative companies from the province to discuss the impact of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and big data across various sectors, including healthcare.

A Space for Innovation and Female Talent
The congress not only served as a platform to discuss technological advancements but also as a space to highlight the role of women in the tech field. Throughout the day, several projects and success stories were presented, addressing global challenges with a gender-focused approach and promoting the inclusion and participation of women in traditionally male-dominated fields.
THEIA: Artificial Intelligence at the Service of Healthcare
A key moment of the event was the presentation of THEIA, the technology developed by Newmanbrain, led by our Project Manager, Irene Tortosa. THEIA is an innovative AI-based system designed to assist in diagnosing mild cognitive impairment (MCI), a condition that affects a large portion of the global population and can lead to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s.
Irene Tortosa, who has been instrumental in coordinating the development of THEIA’s machine learning system, explained how the technology enables more efficient and accurate analysis of data related to MCI diagnosis, thus improving medical decision-making. She also emphasized the importance of cybersecurity to ensure the protection of sensitive patient data, a critical aspect of implementing technology in the healthcare sector.
